The Iron Claw received no Academy Award nominations. It earned less than a twentieth of Barbie's total box office. But The Iron Claw was my favorite movie of 2023. Moneyball is literally the perfect sports movie. Yeah sure on the surface there’s the actual sport itself, but it goes so much deeper and it’s actually a movie about recognizing your own achievements and learning that just because people call you a failure all your life because you had unreached potential doesn’t mean you can’t still succeed.

I may have been okay with Wanda's portrayal in Multiverse of Madness, had it not have completely contrasted her portayal in WandaVision Episode 9. After rewatching WandaVision after Multiverse of Madness, I would have made Episode 9 a little darker in regards to Hayward and his men. Hayward already ordered a drone strike and dispatched white Vision to take her out. So it would have been believeable for him to order a weapons free RoE, and it strictly being a kill mission to end the Maximoff threat once and for all. What I would have changed is, with Wanda's attention being on Agatha and her stress levels already being elavated during the confrontation, Haywards' convoy abumshes them from behind, immediately opening fire. Everything happens so fast, that Wanda's reaction un-alives the squad, and in a rage finishes off a critically wounded Hayward before Monica talks her down. Wanda's horrifed. While Agatha voices her approval, further gaslighting Wanda into seeing herself as dangerous, reminding her about Lagos and previous incidents, and why she's "undeserving" before their fight resumes. At the end of Ep 9, during her parting words with Monica, the latter attempts to ease Wanda's conscious by saying that she acted in self-defense against Hayward who was trying to take her out multiple times, Wanda feels somewhat better, but on the other hand Wanda finds it easier to rationalize and justify the taking of life, by the time she reads the Darkhold. Reading the book amplifies this and manipulates her into believing the taking of life is justified if its in line with her best interests and her children. - Having a flashback scene like this in Multiverse/Madness would have made her mass-murderer nature make more sense. Though with too little time between WV and MM, the 180 would felt a bit abrupt.

Trump is not Hitler. Hitler, as amazingly evil as he was, believed in something. Trump believes in whatever people want him to believe in. He conforms to whatever container you pour him into. Trump has no morality at all, not even evil morality framed as good will. Trump only cares about himself and ultimately believes in nothing except filling his pockets with cash and accolades from disenfranchised and ill informed people that Trump would not bother to urinate on if they were on fire...unless it benefitted him to be seen doing so. Trump worshippers love someone who does not care about them at all. And they will never accept this, or any real truth.

The coding of the end of the film is not ambiguous. It is left-kills-right. Anyone who felt the thrill or chill or that ending, depending on their allegiance, knows this. Journalists as heroes is in very bad taste given what we know about the last 20 to 30 years of journalistic misconduct from the larger players in that industry. I think you are giving this film far too much credit.

I still don't like the movie, perhaps because it completely removes all the messy political aspect that was happening in addition to Pauls personal vendetta against the Harkonnen and by extension the Emperor. It's why I still like the Sci-Fi miniseries instead for not only keeping that, but acknowledging that he isn't apprehensive about his role as the Dukes son, as he was a political animal before he was even born by virtue of being the heir of a noble house. To think he would be hesitant to use the power that came with his station is absurd, and it's why he also leans into the old prophecies to use the Fremen for his own goals...and also how it backfires when Paul becomes trapped by the same prophecy and future he lead everyone into. No amount of future sight can change events that are inevitable.

Heart of Darkness is about White man's greed in the Congo, told by a white man, Joseph Conrad. The Character of Kurtz in the book was one who got furthest into the jungle and brought back more ivory than anyone for the Belgian king. No-one in Europe understood the carnage going on in that country, and just as in Vietnam the pretext was bringing democracy, the europeans were told they were bringing Christianity and civilization to the African continent, when it was just an orgy of murder and pillaging. Kurtz was correct in his assessment and thus needed to be silenced, Kilgour was just an idiot with no mind of his own, how the American gov. likes 'em!

As an Afghanistan and Iraq war veteran, I believe Platoon is the best movie that describes the dynamics of a platoon in a combat environment. In my war, there were no drugs, and the leadership kept the soldiers online and prevented unnecessary violence. Remember, unlike in Vietnam, our military is volunteer, and the soldiers choose to be there. I also want to add that American soldiers have compassion for the Iraqi and Afghan people. In Vietnam, the situation was different, and many of those in the combat zone were too far gone and did not want to be there. Violence was part of the situation they were given. I have to agree with must of the comments in the video.
